David Mills brings a total of 29 years of armed investigative and protective experience in civil service. David has earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and Spanish literature. David began his civil career as a Presentence Investigator and Parole Officer for the State of Idaho, investigating the backgrounds of offenders for the local courts and then supervising their time on parole/probation in the community. David received extensive training in emergency preparedness and firearms. After seven years of service for the State of Idaho, David joined the ranks of the US Secret Service, where he completed training as a Criminal Investigator-Special Agent, assigned to investigate complex multinational fraud cases and provide protection for numerous US and world leaders and their families. David’s career in the Secret Service entailed extensive project management with US and foreign leaders and law enforcement in the interdiction of counterfeit US currency circulating worldwide and complex multi-national fraud schemes. In 2016, David oversaw the completion of a complex cyber fraud case in Federal Court in Seattle, WA where the defendant was found guilty of defrauding thousands of US citizens and small businesses of over $169 million. The defendant was sentenced to 27 years in Federal prison, the longest such sentence for fraud in Secret Service history. During his Secret Service career, David was assigned to the US Vice-Presidential Protective Division in Washington DC, where he received extensive firearms, emergency medical and protective driver’s training. David served as a limo driver for both Vice Presidents Dick Cheney and Joe Biden in the US and locations throughout the world. David also led advance teams worldwide, preparing for numerous visits of the US Vice President, partnering with US and foreign law enforcement and military in the formulation and execution of the Secret Service’s protective goals and objectives. David was eventually promoted as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the US Secret Service Seattle Field Office. In this capacity, David oversaw the day-to-day operations and activities of the special agents assigned to the Seattle district, including the ongoing and ever-evolving criminal investigations undertaken by the Seattle Electronic Crimes Task Force. As a leader, David also regularly partnered and trained with several local and Federal law enforcement and military units, gaining valuable knowledge, and earning the respect of his peers. David is a dedicated member of his family and community.
