Yoshiko “Yoshi” Marinko served her country for a total of 35 years in the United States Air Force and the United States Secret Service. A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Yoshi earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in English and Minors in Japanese and Spanish. She also has a Master of Science in Management Degree from Troy State University. She served in the United States Air Force as a Services Officer for 9 nine years, managing food, lodging, and mortuary affairs operations at various bases/sites and also ensured military members in her unit received required training to prepare them for deployment. Yoshi finished up her time in the Air Force as Mountain Home Air Force Base’s Wing Commander’s Executive Officer, performing required administrative duties for the Wing Commander, the highest ranking commander on base. In 2001, after graduating from the Criminal Investigator Training Program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA and the Secret Service Special Agent Training Course in Beltsville, MD, Yoshi started her career as a Secret Service Special Agent. During her time in the Los Angeles District, she investigated Bank Fraud and Counterfeit Currency cases and Threats against Secret Service protectees. While stationed in Washington, D.C., Yoshi was assigned to the Clinton Protective Division and Vice Presidential Protective Divisions and provided physical protection to Vice President Joseph Biden, Second Lady Jill Biden, Former President Bill Clinton and Former First Lady Hillary Clinton and their residences. This included physical bodyguard-type work as well as driving in the motorcade. She also developed and executed numerous security plans as the Clintons and Bidens traveled around the country/world. Yoshi rounded out her time in Washington, D.C. as a member of the National Capital Region Counter-Surveillance Division. Yoshi spent the final phase of her Secret Service career with the Seattle Field Office where she investigated Threats against Secret Service protectees, Financial Fraud, and Cyber Network Intrusion Cases to include Business Email Compromises. She also performed Background Investigations for applicants hoping to join the Secret Service. Furthermore, she has provided protection to different Heads of States of the following countries when they visited the United States, such as Pope Francis, Iceland, Costa Rica, Gambia, Sweden, Jordan, Spain, Japan, China. An active member of the local community, Yoshi serves as a board member in her church and is a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 10018.
